[Updated] Tez (Google Pay) not working? You are not alone

Google recently rebranded its India-focused Tez payments app to Google Pay.

While that’s good news for everyone involved, what’s now coming to light is that the payments service is down for those who have updated their app from Tez to Google Pay.

Users are taking to platform like Twitter to report that the service is not working for them. Following is a collection of comments that should give you a good idea on the problem users are facing:

Going by what complainants say, the service’s servers aren’t responding. So seems like a server issue which Google needs to fix. Given the service’s popularity in India, I am sure the company will act promptly and the problem should be take care of within next few hours.

If the problem persists, do let us know in comments below. We’ll update the story as and when there’s any newsworthy development on the matter.

Update (August 31):

Google Pay India has officially acknowledged the issue while reverting back to some of users on Twitter.

We’re aware of this & working on a fix. Please try again after a few hours

Hopefully, whatever’s causing the glitch shall be resolved soon, and users will be able to make use of Google’s payments app without any hiccups.

NOTE: The then-called Tez app, now known as Google Pay was Google’s venture in the Indian digital payment market. You can read more about it here.
