Google finally fixes Chromecast's issue with Android's mobile hotspot

Back in June, Chromecast users started complaining that Android devices could no more be used as hotspot (for Wi-fi) for Chromecast to connect to. After a long wait, Google has finally called the issue fixed.

Just to give you a quick recap, the issue came to knowledge after updating to Google Play Service version 11.0.55. Users started complaining that Chromecast was no longer supporting Android devices when used as hotspot. Soon after being reported, the problem got officially acknowledged. Google employee Vivian updated the affected users on the official Chromecast help forum and said:

On August 4, Google updated that the problem has been resolved in the Beta version of Google Play Services. They also mentioned that the official version will be out in late summer, and suggested those affected should go for the Beta version until then.

Looks like the wait is finally over, as Google has officially called the problem fixed on issue tracker. They mentioned that Google Play Service’s version that cures the bug is now public. In case you have been facing the issue, kindly update to the latest version of Google Play Services.
